Photo by me of an alleyway in L.A.'s Little Tokyo (July 2022)
Saw a video posted by CBS Mornings from earlier this month and remembered when I went to L.A. 3 years ago and walked around Little Tokyo. I expected it to be tiny and underwhelming (closer to Japan Town in San Francisco, where I went several months later) but I wasn't disappointed. We even went back again a couple days later before leaving for home and still found it enjoyable. Would recommend checking out the following if you get a chance (out of the 100 or so things crammed within the neighborhood):
Oomasa - sushi restaurant that's been there for decades.
Utsuwa-no-yakata - dishware and bric-a-brac store that's also been there for decades.
Nijiya Market - supermarket/convenience store? that sells lots of cool Japanese groceries.
Koyasan Buddhist Temple - cultural center for the neighborhood.
Books Kinokuniya - yes, a chain store, but we don't have them easily where I'm at (not as big as New York's but still good)
