I got really into old-school punk while I was in high school/college during the 2000s, but queer punk/"queercore" was a considerable gap in the knowledge I got during that time (especially notable since the 2000s was not a particularly queer-friendly time...). While punk has always been queer from the start (look at any number of key figures and guess what?), queercore is specifically born out of the 1980s and 1990s and is often a specific sub-genre of punk on its own.


Since I didn't post about this during last year's Pride Month, I figured I'd go ahead and give space here this year. Below are articles and videos covering the history of the genre, followed by some albums that get recommended as starting points.
