Thoughts after 500 Posts

So after 3+ years, I’ve finally hit the 500th post mark. While definitely a milestone, I’m not feeling like putting much into making a celebratory post (though I am very happy to hit it!) but I want to mark it by noting some observations received from experience in blogging here:
I have trouble maintaining a steady journal since I’ve often found it hard to have anything meaningful to say every day. Leaving it behind and just focusing on Something Interesting entries/micro-posts made me a lot happier and willing to update with some regularity when it stopped feeling like a chore.
Most of my posts have very-little views and there are only two that have had a lot of people look at them: one about Korean food (1000+ views and counting) and another one about the D.C. Metro (200+ views). Both of these were also posted to Reddit and were presumably nerdy and unique enough that people seemed to enjoy them. I’m still not sure how to interpret their success…
I’m so glad I finally learned how to embed videos and other media - trying to just hyperlink them was very frustrating!
It’s certainly been a journey (to be cliched) and I’m looking forward to see how else I’ll surprise myself by the 1000th post, which I’m imagining won’t take nearly as long to get to as this one.
