Introducting "Tumblr Finds"

Got a scare a couple nights ago, thinking that my Tumblr disappeared completely and now I've been going down a rabbit-hole lately to save things of interest. Like all rabbit-holes, some of the bunnies found were too interesting to just let go and burrow away so I'm planning on reposting some of these through the Micro-post category as "Tumblr Finds." This is to differentiate what I've found more recently versus something I pulled from my Tumblr era (2013-2015).

Also, I've got a few observations that'll affect what I'm reposting:

  • Surprised by how many websites no longer exist from around 2013. Most of the articles I posted then are also really outdated or pretty stupid (lots of listicles too, a problem I also had with my Interesting Things posts a couple years ago). Not going to be reposting a lot of these.

  • Also surprised how many posts I had related to people who are now rightfully persona non grata or plain monstrous (Bill Cosby, Joss Whedon, Woody Allen, Kanye West, David Foster Wallace, Justin Roilland, Louis C.K., J.K. Rowling, Neil Gaiman, etc.). Don't worry, I'm not reposting anything involving these folks - knowing what we all know now, I could never justify giving air to any of these scumbags. Their work is all tainted by this and I often find it hard to separate the art from the artist once I know.

  • Vimeo was full of fire with excellent videos, which most are luckily still around!

  • Happy that most of my Spotify selections are still active.

  • Looks like all the pictures and GIFs are also showing up. That said, I actually don't care for a lot of the things I reposted back in the 2010s any more 🤨

  • Thought I was posting for longer but it looks like most of my activity was primarily during mid-2013.

  • While mostly fine, there's definitely some opinions and choices I made then that now feel cringe-worthy. This happens with everything, though, since I'm certain I'll feel similarly about this blog 10 years from now...
