I've been following Lewis Bond's videos about cinema for a while (back before he started up The Cinema Cartography, which is now The House of Tabula) and I'm curious as to how he's going about this series about the Foundations of Film he's now posting on YouTube.
I've re-posted the first two episode - both feature-length appropriately - and may or may not post the others as time goes on. I also am adding as a bonus his Greatest Films video, which leans a little pretentious and "film bro-y" but was still a good watch since he explains his justifications for his opinions. There's also a post I made 2 years ago with his Outsider Art video included if you want to check that out, since it inspired me to write on the subject.
One of my favorite bits in the first video is the list of these tongue-in-cheek 5 "Cardinal Sins" of Cinema, which I'm providing here in case you want them:
The film is subtitled.
The film is too old.
The film is too slow.
The film is too long.
The film had "no story".
