Sunny yet cool in the Hampton Roads area, getting a good start to the long weekend. Going to be seeing family I haven’t seen in a while so that should interesting. My parents keep a lot of Rick Steves travel guides and I’m starting to understand his appeal. Also been putting Ancient Aliens on while sleeping - it’s still repetitive kinda-racist pseudoscientific garbage (Annunaki, Pumapunku, etc.) but it also has an irresistibly loopy charm to it… Weekend’s off to a good start so far.

P.S. Thinking about loopy aliens, today’s album is one of my favorites: Parliament’s Funkentelechy Vs. The Placebo Syndrome (1977). Much like Ancient Aliens, it’s both rooted in pseudoscience and goofy as hell but with a drug-induced sense of humor instead of self-seriousness. Just don’t get sucked into the orbit of the chronically unfunky Sir Nose d’Voidoffunk.
