We went to a Slovak-American picnic Saturday something that was both a week planned and last-minute. The weather worked out and we got to meet a lot of folks who had both interesting stories and opinions. I also managed to finish Crying in H Mart finally and it felt appropriate since much of Zauner's experience with her mother is similar to what I saw with my spouse and their grandmother several years ago. I'll have more to say about that later this week, though...
As of Sunday afternoon, I might've caught a cold or something while at the picnic since my sinuses are all crazy and my throat's scratchy. Luckily wasabi-laden sushi rolls seem to be helping clear that all out. It's been a good weekend and we're finally getting to enjoy the patio more these days. I'm hoping the rest of the summer follows this pattern. - A.B. 5/18/25
P.S. While typing this up, we were playing a 90s R&B playlist and a Sade song I liked popped up. So today's album is the one it comes from: Love Deluxe (1992). Featured image is a photo of clouds (since it's cloudy right now) by Marc Wieland (Unsplash).
