Getting up early has not been going as well as I wanted. I’ve been crankier and more on edge the last couple days. Even with drinking coffee to get started (which my spouse insists I do first thing anyways, since I seem like an orge when I don’t), my mood didn’t improve. Need to find a balance, maybe wake up halfway between my old time and new one. Probably 7:45 works? Think I’ll try that.
I'm also coming to terms with the possibility that I'm probably not a writer but only a curator. I would've balked at this when I was younger, when all my dreams and hopes were tied to an identity as A Writer. But with the world being the way it is now, I feel we actually need more curators and librarians than we do writers. I want to sit on this thought - maybe I'll write an essay about it at some point...
Making headway on Crying in H Mart, been listening to Everything Is Tuberculosis, both are good books. On & off with rain around here. - A.B. 5/15/25
P.S. Today's albums are some One Album Wonders, due to checking out a list Rolling Stone put a while ago. The first one (which I listened to based on reading a Reddit thread about great 90s albums from one-hit wonders) appeared on this list at No.23: Maybe You've Been Brainwashed Too by New Radicals (1998). Digging more into this album is what led me to the Rolling Stone list, so I figured I would check out some other choices on that list I hadn't heard in full. These included The Exploding Hearts's Guitar Romantic (2003) and Life Without Buildings's Any Other City (2001).
