This weekend was incredibly nice weather-wise, which was perfect since Saturday happened to also be the EU Open House Day here in D.C. My spouse brought it to my attention and so away we went to the Austrian and Slovak embassies, having a fantastic time. Ate a whole lot of food (mixed-berry strudel, grilled sausage) and had some fantastic mead at the Slovak embassy. Tried to go to the Portuguese embassy at Dupont Circle but the line was around the block, so just checked out Second Story Books and got pizza instead. Sunday was a little more subdued, focused on some prep work for Monday and making phone calls for Mother's Day. Not sure what the week's going to bring but hopefully it won't be too hectic. - A.B. 5/11/2025 at 11pm
P.S. Album posted was one I finally listened to on Friday and wanted to share: Mike Oldfield's Ommadawn (1975). It's actually pretty loony stuff, very Ren Faire-feeling but enjoyable if you're in the mood for that. Featured image is a photo of Spiš Castle in Slovakia from Martin Katler, appropriate for both my weekend and the music I'm posting here...
