Today's a Random Stuff day since I'm getting ready to have company over this weekend. Don't expect any journal entries (or blog posts, in general) until next Monday.

I can't believe I missed celebrating Mel Brooks's 100th birthday (happened while I was camping), but even moreso I can't believe it's taken me this long to listen to the 2,000-Year-Old Man sketches he and Carl Reiner did back in the 1960s. They're silly and fun, if sometimes dated:

In the Today I Learned file: as Redditors talking about cartoons often do, someone made yet another list of bad/boring cartoons and mentioned a few I hadn't heard or seen (Allen Gregory was the one mentioned). This then led to a Wiki wormhole, and I stumbled across a particularly cursed piece of media created by Golden Age animator Sam Singer called The Adventures of Paddy the Pelican. While I only watched about five minutes of this thing, it has to be one of the absolute bizarrest pieces of lost media I've ever seen. Horrendous animation, voice-overs that are so long-winded they're almost rants, nonsensical storylines, I'm honestly surprised I'm only hearing about this now. Television in the 1950s was weird, man.

Arizona Green Tea with Ginseng and Honey + Polar Original Seltzer = my new favorite drink. Need to be careful, though, since the green tea also has 120 calories per bottle...

Came across an article from 404 Media yesterday about the rise in promotion flyers created through generative AI. A few thoughts:
Why this look? These flyers all look like complete ass and are incredibly hard to read...
Why use AI for this? Flyers are supposed to be simple and direct, giving you the basic information about the event and not overwhelm you with all the details.
Why not hire an actual artist/graphic designer/photographer? I can't tell if the people making these are cheapskates, lazy, have some kind of demanding "vision," or just don't know anyone to hire or how to start looking for that kind of service.
I'm a firm believer in that anything that's worth doing well requires time, patience, and some willingness to use resources and imagination. Most of the examples shown in the article are from groups/companies that I'm certain can budget accordingly to hire someone creative to help them out, so my biggest question is ultimately a general Why?

Psych.co seems to always sense when I need some self-help guidance I can trust and their most recent guide is about visualizing a better future. I haven't taken notes in my notebook yet from this one but I'm looking forward to delving deeper.
