Waiting to get through the day seems to be better for doing a write-up than just doing it first thing in the morning. While it gives a chance to just type something out, using a lunch break at least provides more material to work with instead of just saying "Uh, it's a day...?" Case in point is that today is when they announced the Rock and Roll Hall Fame "Class of 2025."
While current-me knows the whole thing's a PR exercise started by Rolling Stone founder Jann Wenner, 16-year-old me is smiling big since both Outkast and The White Stripes are finally getting inducted. (Called it in 2003, btw.) To celebrate, going to shuffle through both groups' discogs since neither of them made a legitimate dud with their albums. If you're too young to remember them, I'm giving you the Greatest Hits to get you started. Very happy but now also feeling very old. I'm fine with that:
Other things?
Spouse got a really funny and cute cartoon short in their feed that I have to share. It's from a series from India called Lamput and it's dead-on a replica of the older style of 1950s & 1960s cartoons (actually reminds me of Friz Freleng's work on The Pink Panther shorts). I'll have to check out the rest but the animators seem to have a great grasp on comic timing and fluid motion:
While working, I finally checked out an album I found when writing up my M.P.B. post and looking through the Wikipedia article for Los 600 de Latinoamérica. 600 discos 1920–2022: Juan Luis Guerra and 440's Ojalá Que Llueva Café (1989). It's a quick listen but a great one and since I know next-to-nothing about bachata or merengue, I'm thinking about taking a deeper dive and eventually writing up a Something Interesting about it in the future once I'm more confident to make recommendations.
Otherwise sunny and warm so feeling good all things considered. If you get a chance, don't forget to save a frog and, if in Canada, vote for your new parliament. - AB 4/28/25
