Easter is a big deal for my Yinzer in-laws, especially the Slovak side. This means today’s focused around a large post-Mass feast with plenty of eggs to go around. Deviled eggs. Candied eggs. Pysanky eggs. Just so many eggs. Oh, and ham. Don’t forget ham.

Other things to note about today:

• Pennsylvania gets chilly at night in April, regardless of how hot it was during the day. This is good to know when an HVAC unit unexpectedly breaks.

• Apparently I’m not the only one who woke up wondering today how a giant rabbit gets associated with eggs.

• Don’t joke about whether polka is popular in Pennsylvania...

• Mayonnaise always over Miracle Whip for deviled eggs if you don’t like the filling too sweet.

• Hrudka goes best with horseradish-infused beets.

• Not a fan of cold veal loaf.

• I love love LOVE paska. One of these days, I’m going to make some myself. Just need a blanket big enough to proof it.

• My Sicilian-American father-in-law insists we soundtrack today with nothing but doo-wop…
