As a bonus - since I found this in my archives after making the initial post - here's an extensive breakdown of how historians view Ken Burns' The Civil War, one of the key documentaries about the war. Personally, I've not had any major issues with Burns and found the documentary interesting, I've always had a slight unease with how prevalent Shelby Foote and the "Lost Cause" narrative featured in it.
