Some one on Reddit posted an article from Science the other day and it's a really fascinating read, as it breaks down how specifically to spot a fake when looking at images these days. Granted, as Redditors are often wont to do, there were jokes and scepticism about how effective these techniques will be in about a month. They may true but having a little more digital literacy and awareness is not always a bad thing.
