The things you find when randomly rummaging around the internet...

I found a post while combing through the Hobby Drama subreddit tonight about "bothying," a very safe-for-work and uniquely Scottish lifestyle where people go to live in stone shacks along the Highlands. It's very austere and self-sufficient from what I could gleam. Totally something some of the older Scout leaders would've loved while I was growing up.

Since I've never heard of it until now, I'm sharing this information here as a resource for whoever wants to fly themselves to Scotland and hang out with the wee Highland coos in their stone shacks without modern amenities. Be warned, though - as the Hobby Drama posts, there's rules that have to follow should you engage in the bothy life!
